Alexander Cruz
Esteban
Dec 16, 2005 — Feb 16, 2021
Alexander Cruz Esteban, 15, gained his Angel's wings on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 while he slept in his home in Kansas City, MO.
Alexander was born December 16, 2005, in Overland Park, KS. He was a Freshman at Staley High School where he loved attending classes. His favorite class was PE where he would get a chuckle as to which girls would push him around in his wheelchair. He also loved music and he especially loved to dance. Alex was very sociable. He was involved with Cub Scouts, YMCA Challenger program, Special Olympics North Stars and, most recently, he attended Adaptive Dance Classes at YOU Dance Fitness. Throughout the years, Alex attended many events sponsored by the Down Syndrome Guild of Greater Kansas City. Every year he raised money for the annual Step Up for Down Syndrome walk under his team name 'ACE's Lucky'. During his spare time, he loved to watch Coco, Incredibles 2, and Barney just to name a few of his favorites.
Alex has touched so many lives in his short 15 years. He showed love, kindness and gave it his all in everything that he did. He lived life to the fullest and gave the best hugs.
Alex was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Porfirio Lazaro. He leaves behind his parents Gabriel and Regina Esteban of Kansas City, MO; his dog Lucky; his paternal grandmother Margaret Salinas of Fort Worth, TX; and his paternal grandfather Anthony Esteban and his wife Maria, of Kansas City, MO. Alex also leaves behind his favorite Uncle and Aunt Donald and Lupe Yazell of Kansas City, MO. Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members.
Thank you to the Special Education Department of the North Kansas City School District for all the teachers, friends, therapists, nurses, bus drivers and aides that played a part in making Alex's life during his time in school as easy and enjoyable for him as possible.
Alex will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. with the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 27, at St. Gabriel Archangel Catholic Church, 4737 N. Cleveland Avenue, Kansas City, MO. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 5001 NE Cookingham Drive, Kansas City, MO. Masks and social distancing are required for all services. For those unable to attend in person, the Mass will be live streamed on the St Gabriel Facebook Page . A reception to celebrate his life is planned for later this spring.
