Alice Schmidt, 91, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2020. Visitation will be 10 a.m. with the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1 at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church, 10017 E. 36 ^th Terrace South, Independence, MO 64052. Entombment will follow at Mount Olivet Mausoleum.

Born on April 11, 1929 in Victoria, Kansas, she was the youngest of five children of B.J. and Margaret Schulte. In 1948 Alice married Orlando Schmidt and they had four children: Gloria, Michael, Brenda, and Paul. As her family grew, she loved taking roles in everyone's lives including her husband's Knights of Columbus activities. One of her greatest joys was visiting with her nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Orlando and daughters Brenda Schmidt and Gloria Streit.

Mrs. Schmidt enjoyed working various jobs before retiring after years at Hallmark at Crown Center. She enjoyed her retirement in Arizona for the past 23 years - making many trips and vacations to visit her children, grandchildren, sisters, and other family members. She was a former member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kansas City, MO,  and All Saints Catholic Church and St. Timothy Catholic Church in Mesa, AZ. She also was a member of the Victoria, Kansas chapter of the Daughters of Isabella.

Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law Michael and Carol Schmidt of Mesa, Arizona and Paul and Robyn Schmidt of Lawrence, Kansas, along with her nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
