It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Angelo Joseph Christofano, who left this world on September 30th, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on March 22nd, 1929, in Kansas City, Missouri, Angelo lived a life rich in experiences, laughter, and love.

Angelo graduated from De La Salle Military Academy and proudly served in the Navy during World War II, where he crossed the international date line twice and played a role in the testing of the atomic bomb in the South Pacific. His time in the Navy not only shaped his character but also gifted him with countless stories, filled with humor and wisdom, that he shared with anyone who would listen. He remained fiercely proud of his service throughout his life.

After his military service, Angelo dedicated himself to the Missouri/Union Pacific railroads where he retired after an extensive career. A true family man at heart, he helped raise his beloved granddaughters, Marykate and Melissa, instilling in them the values of hard work and kindness.

Angelo's vibrant personality drew people to him wherever he went. He had an infectious laugh, a quick wit, and a genuine interest in others, making him a cherished friend to many. His outgoing nature allowed him to connect with anyone, and he was known for his engaging conversations that often-left people smiling.

In his leisure time, Angelo found joy in taking long walks, watching the news and current events, and he enjoyed conversations more than anything. He also had a passion for learning, often sharing his knowledge through the books he loved so much. A dedicated sports fan, he proudly cheered for both the Kansas City Chiefs and even the Dallas Cowboys.

Angelo was married to the love of his life, Mary Frances Christofano for thirty-eight wonderful years until her death in 2002. Together they created a beautiful family that he cherished deeply. Angelo remained devoted to his Italian roots, celebrating his heritage with a love for traditional Italian cuisine and a strong Catholic faith, attending his local church every Sunday.

He will be at rest with his wife Mary Frances Christofano; daughter Cathy Anna Korang; parents Alfonso and Anna Christofano; father-in-law and mother in-law Andrew and Angelina Perillo; brothers and sisters-in-law Anthony and Anna Mae Christofano, Jerome and Carol Christofano, Joe Mike Christifano; sister and brother-in-law Agnes and Marion Saladino; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Harland and Catherine Igou, Salvatore Fasci.

He will be sadly missed by his daughter and daughter-in-law Angela and Lisa Christofano; son Alfonso Joseph Christofano; grandchildren Ashley Ault, Melissa Korang, Marykate Korang, Amber Stillwell, Dylan Steele, Michael Angelo Christofano, Victoria Major; great-grandchildren Gracie-Mae Christofano, Christiano Steele, Tabitha Ann Christofano; brother and sisters-in-law Simon and Antionette Christofano, Marie Christofano, Phyllis Christifano, Sharon Fasci.

Though he has left us, Angelo's spirit, and the love he shared will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be profoundly missed but forever remembered for the warmth, laughter, and love he brought into our lives.

Services will be held on Monday, October 14, at St. Mark's Catholic Church, Independence, Missouri. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
