Angelo Joseph Serrone, 88, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2016, surrounded by family. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, February 4, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 5, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 5106 St. John Ave., Kansas City, MO 64123, followed by burial at Green Lawn Cemetery.
Angelo was born October 19, 1927, to Louis and Tulia Serrone. He served in the U.S. Army, and worked at Westvaco for 43 years before retiring. Angelo was a member at St. John the Baptist, St. Aloysius, and Holy Cross parishes where he was active as head usher, Holy Name Society president, the food pantry and St. Joseph Table.
Angelo was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 57 years, Georgia; his son, Angelo; brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and Dorothy Serrone; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lou Love, Mary and Joe DiCapo, Josephine and Gerald Smith, and Leonard Goebel.
Angelo leaves behind to cherish his memory: daughters and son-in-law, Anna Marie and Steve Lyle, Julia Serrone; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Delores Serrone; sisters and brother-in-law, Vincie and Edward McMurray, Mary Lou Goebel; numerous nieces and nephews; "like-family": Frank and Cathy Liberto and family, Qua and Kim Tran and family, and James and Allison Ross.
