Anita Bonnie "Annie" Florez passed away peacefully on Friday, June 30, 2023, at the age of 89.

Anita was born in Kansas City, MO, on March 16, 1934. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother who would do anything for her children and grandchildren without thinking twice. She had a love for her family that was unconditional.

Anita was blessed with eight children, 22 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She leaves behind her children: Gonzalo "Tony" Fabela (Rosie), Catalina "Cathy" Carrete, Maria Bradshaw (Rodney), Gerardo Fabela, Eddie Fabela, Juan "Lencho" Fabela (Lynn), Elisa Fabela, and Rosa Florez; her two grandsons, Jesus (Karen) and Joseph (Mercedes), who she raised as her own along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Julian and Katherine Florez; sisters Delores Alaniz and Katherine Grace; brother Julian "Junior" Florez; her granddaughter Adina Fabela; her grandson Jadiah Florez; and daughter-in-law Kathleen "Kathy" Fabela.

The family wishes to thank the staff at University Health Lakewood for their care, kindness and support during her short time there, especially her hospice nurse Kim, who made sure that her needs were met and she was comfortable, and most of all for being by her side when she passed away.

Services will be held on Tuesday, July 11, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Saint Mary's Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Michael Matthews, Daniel Matthews, Damian Matthews, Ray Carrete, Joseph Florez, and Karlos Ramirez.
