Ann Catherine
Giamalva
Jul 3, 1926 — Aug 12, 2022
Ann Catherine (Fazzino) Giamalva, 96, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 12, 2022.
Ann was born on July 3, 1926, in Kansas City, Missouri. She grew up in the Northeast area of the city. Ann attended Cardinal Glennon High School, where she graduated in 1944. She married Frank Giamalva in 1949. They remained married until his passing in 2000.
Ann was a homemaker to her three children. She was an avid cook and baker and loved making homemade Italian cookies for anyone she knew. She dedicated years of her life to the St. Joseph's Table festivities, including in leadership roles at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and St. Aloysius Catholic Church, helping set up the displays and preparing dishes for the table. She also volunteered her time to the food pantry at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, where she met many of her lifelong friends.
Ann lived for Sunday dinners with family for which she spent hours preparing her favorite Italian dishes. She loved being surrounded by friends, many of whom she remained close with for over 75 years, and especially enjoyed playing cards with her club girls, something she did since she was a teenager.
She was a 5'2" spitfire with a heart of gold. She was very loving and generous and would give the shirt off of her back to anyone who needed it. She loved to travel, especially to visit her cousins in New Orleans.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband Frank, son Joseph, and brothers Alex and Pat Fazzino. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Mary and Pete Badalucco, daughter Virginia Marshall, grandson Anthony Civella, sister-in-law Josephine Fazzino, aunt Rosalie George, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, August 15, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Nick Fazzino, Nick Joseph Fazzino, Alex Fazzino, Nick Anthony Fazzino, Frank Fazzino, Frank Giamalva, and Paul Wolf
