Anna (DiGiovanna) Scardino, 98, a longtime resident of Columbus Park in Kansas City, MO, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2013, at Little Sisters of the Poor. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Sunday, July 7, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124, where the Rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 8, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 911 E. Missouri Ave., Kansas City, MO 64106. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to The Little Sisters of the Poor.
Anna was born September 8, 1914, in Kansas City, MO to Joseph and Julia (Maddi) DiGiovanna. She worked 30 years for Tranin Egg Co. as a supervisor before retiring. She was a member of Holy Rosary Parish where she enjoyed working the St. Joseph's Table. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe Scardino; sister, Mary Eisenhauer; brothers, Albert and Frank DiGiovanna; and great-granddaughter, Dominica Ann George.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jasper "Jay" and Minnie Scardino; grandchildren, Joseph A. and Cindy Scardino, Anna J. and Michael George, Don and Jody Scardino; five great-grandsons, Jordan and Joseph Scardino, Anthony and Jasper George, and Connor Scardino; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
