Obituary

Anthony Vincent Bruno, age 26, died Sunday, December 1, 2013. Visitation for Anthony will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2013, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at St. Therese Catholic Church, 7207 NW Highway 9, Parkville, MO 64152, where the Rosary will be prayed at 9 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, December 6, at St. Therese Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Anthony Bruno Memorial Fund c/o Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124 (816) 471-2844.

A lifelong Kansas City resident, Anthony was born August 18, 1987 to John and Dee Bruno. He graduated in 2006 from Rockhurst High School where he played football, track and field and was on the debate team. He attended University of Missouri-Columbia. He was a third generation Kansas City, Missouri firefighter and a member of the IAFF Local No. 42. Anthony worked at one of the most active firehouses in the city, Station 17, Truck 2, C shift, 3401 Paseo, where he was awarded a unit citation. During his off time he worked at Kansas City, Kansas Community College as an adjunct instructor in the Fire Science Department. He loved to travel, read and was an avid sports fan. He loved life, family and the Fire Department. He was an excellent athlete who loved skiing, fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling, hunting and hiking. He was intellectually gifted and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was honorable, dedicated, loyal and very much loved. Anthony will be greatly and forever missed and never forgotten. He was married to his true love and soul mate, Stephanie Steele, on November 16, 2013.

Anthony was preceded in death by his grandfather, Tony Bruno, and his grandparents, Vincent and Emma Jane Foley. He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Bruno; parents, John and Dee Bruno; sisters, Mary and Catherine Bruno; grandmother Clara Bruno; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Ellen Steele; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Justin and Danielle Steele, Jason and Kelly Steele, Jimmy Steele; niece and nephews, Kassidy, Jordan, and Jonah Steele; aunts and uncles, Rozann and Joe Brancato, Lynda Jo and Joe Sacco, Nino Bruno and Mary Jo Spino, Mike Foley, Kathy Foley and Jeff Cohen; first cousins, Joseph and Michelle Brancato, Jolynne Brancato and Gus Jorge, Joey and Sarah Sacco, Ashley and Brad Picard, Annamarie, Anthony and Sammy Sacco, Julie, Nino, Vinny and Briana Bruno, Sean and Sarah Foley, Kelli and Jason Manning; great-aunts, Katie Caronia, Virginia Hogberg, Virginia Andrews, Linda Belgiere, Beatrice LaSala, Marti Pernice, Rosetta Pernice, Nancy Pernice; close family friend, Norman Larkey; and numerous family and friends.
