Anthony "Tory" Joseph Caravella Sr., 83, of Kansas City, MO, passed away on May 3, 2021, with loving family by his side. Anthony was born on November 4, 1937 and grew up in Kansas City's Historic Northeast Neighborhood.

Anthony was preceded in death by his father Joseph (1977), mother Maggie (Fazzio) (1984), his siblings Anthony, Francis and Rose, his loving wife of 53 years Sandra (Donze) Caravella (2015), and daughters Joann Caravella (1977) and Margaret Caravella-Aguliar (2020).

Anthony is survived by his children Joseph (Neva), Vincent, Phyllis Fenter (Kenneth), Mary Shaffer (James), Anthony Jr (JoMarie), and Christina; grandchildren Anthony Caravella (Stefanie), Brittney Caravella (Josh), Alexandrea Caravella (Ross), Kyle Shaffer (Chandler), Jacob Shaffer (Taylor), Brianna Caravella, Michela Caravella, Sierra Shaffer, Gabriella Caravella, Logan Shaffer, and Alayna Fenter; great grandchildren  Amara and Jameson Shaffer; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

As the son of an immigrant brick mason, Anthony was no stranger to hard work. Graduating from De La Salle Military Academy in 1956, landed him a short career in the U.S. Navy. Upon his return home to Kansas City, he worked multiple jobs to help support his family and ultimately retired after a 37-year career at S&S Meat Company.

Anthony was a devoted husband, father, nanu, and friend. A loving and dedicated family man, he not only enjoyed spending time with his seven children, 11 grandchildren, and his two great-grandchildren, he also enjoyed talking to anyone he would meet. He was a stranger to no one, telling everyone he met his childhood stories, bragging about his children, grandchildren, his casino adventures and about the love of his life, Sandra.

Anthony enjoyed the simple things in life like a shot of Amaretto, Gates BBQ sandwiches and an occasional slab of ribs from Joe's KC BBQ. He found solitude in coin collecting, watching the stock market, doing word searches and crossword puzzles. You could also catch him reading Louis L'Amour westerns or watching classic movies and criminal dramas.

His family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the incredible care, compassion and comfort Anthony and the family received from the nurses and staff at North Kansas City Hospital and NorthCare Hospice House.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, May 14, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 15, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, KC North, followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery. To honor Anthony's admiration for the western culture, at the cemetery he will be taken to his final resting place by a horse-drawn hearse provided by KC Carriages.

Pallbearers will be James Shaffer, Kyle Shaffer, Jacob Shaffer, Logan Shaffer, Kenneth Fenter and Ross Shank.  Honorary Pallbearer Josh Davis.
