Anthony J. "Tony" Conforti Jr., 79, passed away peacefully, August 20, 2016, surrounded by his loved ones.
Tony attended De La Salle Academy. After graduating, he served in the Army from 1956 to 1958. At Rockhurst College, he earned Bachelor degrees in Business and Accounting, eventually working for several companies as an accountant. Being beholden to someone else was not his style, however, and he went into business for himself, opening a store in the River Market. Anyone lucky enough to shop at Discounts Unlimited knew the unique personality that was "Clean Tony".
Tony lived life on his terms. Though a shrewd businessman, he wouldn't hesitate to help a friend or family member in a time of need. It's his independent and generous spirit that will be missed the most.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony Sr. and Dorothy (Miller); brother Ronald Gene and sister-in-law Mary Katherine. He is survived by his children, George (Nicole) and Jennifer Spangenberg (Darren); stepchildren, Lauren and Ashley Leonard; brother, Nick and sisters, Anna Marie Romi (Harold) and Kathy Linder (Mike); grandchildren Emma, Eyan, Sophia, Bella and Lucia, as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank those who cared for Tony these last few years, particularly family friends Christine Richardson and Tabitha Pyle and the staff at St. Luke's Hospice House.
Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 24, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 911 E. Missouri Ave., Kansas City, MO 64124.
