Anthony John Battaglia, 88, went home to be with the Lord on August 13, 2025

Anthony (Tony) leaves behind his devoted wife of 71 years Betty Jean Battaglia. His son's Frank (Rick) Battaglia, Marion Battaglia (DeeDee). His daughter Bettina Battaglia O'Brien. His grandchildren Tony Battaglia (Marcella), Chuckie O'Brien (Cassie), Christina O'Brien, and Nicolas Battaglia. His great grandchildren Charlie O'Brien and Isaac Garner.

Preceded in death by his parents Frank and Mary Battaglia, mother and father-in-law, Marion and Florence Bonura, brother Joe Battaglia, and brother-in-law Frank Bonura.

Tony lived the life of 20 men. Tony was a world-renowned hunter and guide for over 70 years. He is known throughout North America as one of the greatest hunters to ever live.

Tony began work at 8 years old with his father at the city market. In 1964 they built Town and Country Market on Chouteau Trafficway, where he worked alongside his father and two sons, Rick and Marion, until 1988. Tony's greatest passion was guiding over 100 hunters in Alaska and spending every Spring and Fall at the farm in Sumner Missouri, where he taught his sons and grandsons the love of hunting. His only granddaughter, Christina, is now following in his footsteps for the love of mountain climbing.

Tony and Betty Jean had a love so deep that it could not be broken. For over 75 years, he adored her, spoiled her, and took care of her until his very last day. Tony's respect and admiration for Betty Jean was truly unmatched. He was her best friend and devoted his life to her.

Tony did everything in life that some men only dream about: from his life of hunting to selling cars, gun whole seller, diamonds, riding horses and snowmobiles, he was truly an adventurous man who lived his life to the fullest.

The love he gave his children and grandchildren will leave a lasting legacy and impact on all of them forever. Tony shared his love for hunting with his oldest son, Rick. Ever since Rick was a little boy, they spent every year deer and turkey hunting together, making endless memories. Rick often joined Tony on his hunting excursions in Alaska. Tony shared his passion for cars with his middle son, Marion. They spent countless hours bonding over new cars and test driving them together. Tony taught Marion the ends and outs of business, making Marion the successful businessman he is today. He showed his daughter Bettina the world – from Mexico to Europe – his love for adventure opened her love for traveling and exploring her life to the fullest with no regrets. Tony instilled in all his children to be good people and always extend a helping hand whenever you can.

Tony will be forever missed by everyone who knew him and his stories and memories will live on for many years to come.

The family would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to Sonia (Sunny) Smith, who spent countless hours looking after and caring for Tony, and Tracey Sardo Palmentere, who they considered their other daughter. As well as his Goddaughter, Janelle Mussorici, for the care and love they showed him in these final months.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 16, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the Funeral Mass at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Terrace Park Cemetery.
