Anthony A. Leardi passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday evening, October 24, 2017, at Kansas City Hospice House. The Rosary will be prayed at 3:00 p.m. followed by Visitation from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 29th, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 30th, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO 64131. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Tony, as many knew him, was born in Brooklyn, New York. At the age of 18, he joined the United States Air Force, and proudly served his country for 4 years until he was honorably discharged in 1963. While he was stationed at Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base he met JoAnn, with whom he would start a life in Kansas City. He worked at Kansas City Power & Light for 30 years until his retirement in 1993. Tony was known for his gentle nature, talent for carpentry, and love for his wife, children and grandchildren.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Catherine Leardi. Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, JoAnn; his children and spouses, Diane and Paul Dominick, Anthony and Beth Leardi, Kim and Sal Carollo, Michael and Carlene Leardi; his grandchildren, Dr. Anthony Dominick, Paul and Toniann Dominick, Nicole Dominick, Anthony Carollo, Michael Carollo, Abby Leardi, Michael Leardi; as well as countless friends and family.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the kind and compassionate Dr. Kelley Young and her entire staff in caring for Tony. Thanks are also extended to the nurses and staff of Kansas City Hospice House who cared for Tony in his last hours of life.
