It is with great sadness that the family of Anthony Lombardo announces his passing to eternal glory on Monday, July 15, 2024, at the age of 85.

Surely Your goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever." Psalm 23:6 (ESV)

Anthony was born to Jack and Katherine Lombardo on August 1, 1938. He grew up with 4 siblings in the Northeast area of Kansas City, MO, and as a young teenager worked in a small grocery store when not attending school.

Anthony graduated from Glennon High School in 1956 and enlisted in the United States Air Force in November of the same year. After completing Basic Military Training in San Antonio, Texas, Anthony was sent to Warren AFB, Wyoming, for specialized training as Communications Specialist in Intelligence. He was assigned to Shemya Air Station in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska, for a tour of duty in Communications Encryption. His time of service supporting our nation was during a tumultuous time with the former Soviet Union (USSR) during the Cold War era.

Anthony was honorably discharged from the USAF in 1960 and returned to his family in KCMO. After returning to KC, as newly discharged Airman, he met the love of his life, Frances Mary Pascuzzi. They were married on November 5, 1960. As a newly married couple they made their home in KCMO and were blessed with four loving children. His career was primarily in the grocery industry as a sales/marketing representative for several major brands.

Anthony's greatest joy and interests were with his family and exploring the open road on many trips to - Lake of the Ozarks, Branson and as far as San Deigo, California to visit family and vacation. He shared his love of nature and the outdoors with family trips to many zoos, parks, ocean beaches to view all types of animals – birds of prey, marine mammals, the old KC Zoo Ape House to name a few.

Many fond memories of being packed like sardines in the family car for long hours, little-to-zero drinks, sticking to vinyl seats in the heat of summer. Ahhh! The good ol' days beckon! 😊 However, we did listen to some good tunes on contemporary Top40 radio stations as we traversed the city/countryside. Certain songs still whisk our memory back to those moments. It is beautiful how time works that way.

Anthony was patriotic and loved his country. Being a proud USAF veteran, we attended many open house airshows at different airbases – Richards-Gebaur AFB, Whiteman AFB, Forbes Field ANG, Rosecrans ANG to name a few. He also enjoyed watching aircraft take flight at the roadside park on the perimeter of KC Municipal Airport before KCI (MCI) was fully activated and it was the passenger hub for large commercial jets (B727's…).

Anthony was preceded in death by his parents Katherine and Jack Lombardo, stepfather Bill Rehoric; and siblings Rosalie (Tom), Lenora, MaryAnn.

Anthony will be lovingly remembered by his wonderful wife Frances of 63 years, and his children: Frances (Steven) Breshears, Anthony (Belinda), Jack (Rhonda), Michael, and by his grandchildren: Loy (Amanda), Tyler Breshears, Samantha, Dalton (Taylor) Breshears, Brandon (Rachel), Clayton (Emily) Breshears, Brock (Lauren), Madison and Spencer along with his great grandchildren, Jax, Lia, Gianni, Olivia, Bennett and Elaine.

He is also survived by his brother Jack John Lombardo (Diane) of Kansas City, along with many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Thursday, July 25, at St. Gabriel Archangel Catholic Church, 4737 N. Cleveland Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64117. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. The family welcomes all who attend to join us for a luncheon at the church immediately following the Mass.

The Interment with Military Honors will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 26, at Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Road, Leavenworth, KS 66048.
