Anthony Francis Occhipinto, Jr. passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones on Saturday October 7, 2017.  The Rosary will be prayed at 3:30 p.m. followed by Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 13, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, October 14, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1357 NE 42 ^nd Terr., Kansas City, MO 64116. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family would suggest contributions to Eternal Word Television Network , 5817 Old Leeds Rd., Irondale, AL 35210

Anthony was born in the North end of Kansas City, MO, to Antonio and Giovanna (DiCapo) Occhipinto, on November 6, 1934.  He graduated from Glennon High School in 1952, where he was an active member of the theatrical department.  He loved the theatre and taking everyone with him to see the shows that would come to town.  He was enlisted in the U.S. Army from July 3, 1957 to July 2, 1959, where he served as cook and was able to travel abroad.  He had the honor of going to Sicily to visit his father's family.  He was employed by Gustin-Bacon Manufacturing, which is now CertainTeed, for 42 years.  When he retired he worked at La Tiara Taco manufacturer.

Anthony served at St. Charles Catholic Church as a Minister of Communion and Song Leader for many years.  Anthony was a parishioner of St. Patrick Catholic Church at the time of his death. His Catholic faith and love of our Lord was always first in his life, it showed through all his deeds and contributions.  He was a very spiritual man and enjoyed spreading the word of our Lord to all.

Anthony had several names that he went by.  Junie Boy is what his family lovingly called him for years, and Tony by co-workers and friends.  He had a love of family that was beautiful. The most important name Anthony ever went by was "Dad."  He was a very loving parent. He loved all his children and always encouraged them to be the best that they could be. "Papa Tony" was a grandfather and great-grandfather like no other. His life shines through all of them.  Uncle Anthony was an extraordinary uncle to all his nieces and nephews.

Anthony was preceded in death by his parents; sisters and brothers-in-law: Marie Moley and Frank, Virginia Cangelose and Hank, Angeline Scavuzzo and Carl; brothers and sisters-in-law: Carl Occhipinto and Marie, Vincent J. Occhipinto, Joseph Occhipinto and Helen.

Anthony is survived by his brother and best friend Frank Occhipinto and sister-in-law Pat; his children: Vonna E. Occhipinto, Maria S. (Occhipinto) Gaines and Mike, L. Noelle (Occhipinto) Heater and Tad, Anthony V. Occhipinto, and Fredrick J. Occhipinto; Kelly Muehlebach, a special friend to the family; his grandchildren: Jeffery, Leslie, Amber, Charles, Michael, Jennie, Brandon, Madison, Megan, Kalyn, Alexandra, and Anthony;  11 great-grandchildren with two more on the way; special honorary grandchildren Amy and Hannah; his four-legged companion Hunter, who gave him so much joy;  and many nieces and nephews.
