Anthony E. Scardino, Jr. D.O. passed away on July 30, 2019. He was born on March 6, 1933, to Anthony E. Scardino, Sr. and Mary Scardino. He will be remembered most for his compassion and understanding to each person who touched his life. He was such a gracious, selfless man loved by so many. It was a joy to be in his company, it was an honor to know him and it was a privilege to love him. He leaves behind many family, friends and relatives whose memories and times together go back many years. Words cannot express how dearly he will be missed. He has left an incredibly lasting impression on everyone's heart.

Dr. Scardino practiced in the Kansas City and Blue Springs, Missouri area for 21 years including working with his father who was also a Dermatologist. Thereafter, he practiced in Michigan for 10 years. In the year 2000 he moved to Arizona with his wife, Kathie, where he was retired for a year and a half before resuming a part-time Dermatology practice with Prescott Dermatology Group. He retired at the age of 79.

He graduated from Northeast High School in 1951. He was an accomplished athlete and received his B.S. degree from the University of Missouri in 1955 where he was a four-year letterman in football and played in the annual Blue/Grey Christmas Day Game (North vs South Game in 1954). On November 10, 1951, he was the golden boy for the Missouri Tigers and the boy of wonder of collegiate football. That day belonged to TOSSIN' TONY. He threw the football like a baseball. He completed 23 out of 42 attempts for 365 yards from the spread formation, two of the completions were for touchdowns. Only in 1975 was his single-game pass record of 365 yards eclipsed.

He spent three years in the United States Air Force and was a single engine jet rated pilot during the time. Following his discharge from the service in 1959, he entered the Kansas City College of Osteopathy and Surgery in 1960, receiving his degree in 1964. He served a one-year internship at Lakeside Hospital and completed a three-year preceptorship in 1968. He was appointed Associate Professor of Dermatology at the Kansas City College of Osteopathy and Surgery in 1970 where he taught Dermatology until 1980.

Dr. Scardino was certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Dermatology in 1981. He was a member of the American Osteopathic Association and the American Osteopathic Board of Dermatology. He was also a member of Sigma Phi professional service fraternity until his death.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Kathie; his dear sister, Edie; three wonderful children (two sons and a daughter), Jim and Linda Scardino of Overland Park, KS, Tony and Margaret Scardino of Overland Park, KS, and Bill and Sue Anderson of Henderson, NV; adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces and cousins.

The family requests in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the American Heart Association.

A graveside memorial service will be held at a future date.
