Benita Clarissa Wilson passed away January 5, 2012, at the Kansas City Hospice House, surrounded by the love of family and friends.

Benita was born March 21, 1927, in Questa, NM, to her loving parents Felipe and Fidelia Medina. She was the second of eleven children in her family. After growing up in Questa, Benita moved to Denver, CO, to attend high school and pursue studies at a local business school. While in Denver, she met her future husband, Carl R. Wilson Sr., who was stationed as an Army Medic at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital. After their marriage, they eventually settled in the Northeast Area of Kansas City, where they raised six children. Carl and Benita's 49 year marriage revolved around family, good friends, and their deep Catholic faith. Benita was a member of Holy Cross Parish for over 64 years and was active in the Altar Society until her death.

Benita was preceded in death by her husband Carl, her parents, and one brother. She is survived by her six children and their spouses: Carl R Wilson Jr and Kathy, Barbara J Beach and Joe, Margaret Lightner and John, Cynthia Pounds and Tim, Elizabeth Cessor, Teresa Germinder and Bob, her fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, nine brothers and sisters, and her lifelong friends from Holy Cross and The Gardens in North Kansas City. She will always have a special place in all of our hearts.

Visitation will be held from 3 PM to 5 PM on Sunday afternoon, January 8, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home at 2117 Independence Boulevard in Kansas City, MO. The Rosary will be recited from 4:30 to 5:00. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 9, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 5106 St. John Ave, Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Benita's name to Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Road, Kansas City, MO 64145.
