Beverly M. "Bernie" Diaz departed this life on December 12, 2024. He was born July 2, 1935, to the late Atanacio Lopez Diaz and Micaela Martinez Diaz in Eskridge, Kansas.

Bernie graduated from Eskridge Rural High School where he was a football and basketball star. He retired from Lake City Ammunition Plant where he was a carpenter. He then enjoyed working his small farm where he raised cattle and chickens and had a large vegetable garden.

Bernie was married for 67 years to Clara Elizabeth Selby who survives, along with their five loving children Micaela "Micki", Paul (Amy), Richard (Mary), David (Cindy), and Brian. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, all of whom were deeply loved. He enjoyed attending their school activities, musical and dance recitals, and especially their sports events.

Bernie was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Juven, Manuel, Anthony, Benjamin, and Joe Fred; and his sisters Jessie, Helen, and Mary Elvera. Along with his immediate family, he is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be on Monday, December 30, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday, December 31, at St. Mark's Catholic Church, at 10:00 a.m. with the Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00 a.m. Contributions may be made to Children's Mercy Hospital or a charity of choice.
