Obituary

Bette Ann Sprofera, 76, of Lee's Summit, Missouri, passed away on October 22, 2025. She was born on September 17, 1949, and grew up in Gladstone, Missouri, where her bold personality, strong work ethic, and love for family took root early in life. She proudly graduated from St. Pius X High School in 1967.

Bette wore many hats throughout her years — a daughter, sister, partner, and mother, aunt— but the title she treasured most was being "Nonni" and "CeCe" to her grandchildren. She was always on the move, always cooking, always lending a hand, and always making sure her family came first. Her kitchen was the heart of every gathering, filled with warmth, laughter, and love — just like her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Marie and Peter Sprofera; siblings James Gulbrandson, AnnaMae Whitaker, and Chuck Sprofera.

Bette is survived by her daughter Noelle Bernhardy (Brandon), son Jacke Pittman (Shelby); siblings Gerri Weyrauch, Pete Sprofera (Debra), and Lynette Sprofera-Shelley (Milton); and her beloved grandchildren Madison, Jillian, Jacke, Dominic, and sweet Isabel; as well as several nieces and nephews — who will forever cherish their Nonni's love and stories.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Independence, followed by a funeral Mass from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. After the service, family and friends will travel to Mount Olivet Cemetery for prayer and burial.

Bette's love of family was her greatest legacy, and she leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will continue to inspire and strengthen those who loved her. We will honor her spirit in countless ways — especially as we continue to strive for the perfection of her famous lasagna, made with the same love she poured into every moment of her life.

And in true Frank Sinatra fashion, Bette did it her own way — every step of the journey.
