Betty Clay Coover Lefman, 92, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Garden Valley Manor. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 12 noon Monday, March 11, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124, where a funeral service will begin at 12 noon. Burial will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery South. In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to the Independence Blvd. Christian Church Memorial Fund in Betty's name.

Betty was born December 29, 1920, in Kansas City, MO to Clay Conner and Ruby Rose Coover. She was a graduate of Northeast High School in 1938 and the University of Central Missouri in 1942, where she later received her master's degree in 1961. She married Ray O. Lefman of Higginsville, MO on March 6, 1941, and worked with her husband and father at Coover Drug Store from 1946 to 1958. From 1958 until her retirement in 1980 she worked as a counselor at Northeast High School. In 1965 she was appointed to the U.S. Assay Commission by President Lyndon B. Johnson. Betty was a longtime member of Independence Blvd. Christian Church and was a past-matron in the Order of the Eastern Star, York Chapter #249.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband and parents. She is survived by her cousin, Margaret Rose Twyman of Bloomfield Hills, MI, and numerous friends.
