Betty Jean (Pope) Vigliaturo passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on August 15, 2026, at the age of 94.

Betty was born at the Lake of the Ozarks on November 9, 1931.  At the young age of 15 she met the love of her life Joseph Vigliaturo.  After graduating from Manual High School, Betty and Joe were married and began a beautiful life together. They were blessed with three children and lovingly raised them together.

Betty worked for Macy's in the credit department for 20 years. She then worked for 34 years as the customer service supervisor at Dillards which she was famously known as "Miss Betty".   She was dedicated, loyal and loved by all. She retired in March 2020. She had a beautiful sense of style. Always impeccably dressed along with matching accessories, and perfectly styled hairdos that changed with the times.  Betty had a wonderful eye for beauty and excellence which shone through her proud collection of fine china, and lovely Fitz and Floyd figurines.

Betty was known for her loving heart, her special wisdom and her many talents. She learned to cook authentic Italian dishes from her beloved mother-in-law Antonia.  Sunday gatherings included her famous basta, sugo and delicious meatballs.  Her sweet potatoes were always the first to go at Thanksgiving dinners and the family Christmas party.  She was a wonderful baker, whose custom cakes and molded creations were truly ahead of her time.   Every single dish was made-from-scratch from her flaky pie crusts, and warm peach cobbler, delicate cream puffs, pot pies, and homemade raviolis. When asked about a baking tip, Betty laughed and said, "When in doubt always add a stick of butter."  Of course, no Italian wedding was complete without Betty Jean's Snowballs.

For 40 years Betty and her husband Joe hosted memorable Christmas Eve celebrations for the whole Vigliaturo family.  As the family grew, the gatherings moved to a hall to accommodate everyone.  They also hosted New Year's Eve for all the Vigliaturo brothers, sisters, in-laws, out-laws, and dear friends.

Betty and Joe loved to travel together, enjoying many cruises to Europe, as well as numerous trips throughout the United States with their children, extended family and friends.

Betty was a wonderful and caring wife for 72 years until Joe passed away in 2020.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She had a special way with babies. They were all blessed by her loving pinch of their cheeks. She did it so gently. It was one of many sweet and generous things that made her so special.

Betty is survived by her loving daughter, Antionette Sherrow and her husband John; her grandson Joseph Manzo; granddaughters Tisha Vigliaturo, Maria Tabor (Michael Dean), Elizabeth Mitchell (Michael); great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; comare Margaret Sue Malponte; brother-in-law Carmen Vigliaturo; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Joseph D. Vigliaturo ; son Frank Joseph Vigliaturo; beloved in-laws Frank and Antonia Vigliaturo; parents James and Ethel Pope; grandparents Willie and Annie Pope, and Henry and Tiny Pemberton; brother James Pope; sisters Lois Boeck, Shirley Witt, and Georgia Mae Johnson; and many Vigliaturo brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Bettys' legacy will live on through the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

The Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m. followed by Visitation from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home. Family and Friends will gather on Saturday, August 22, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where the Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Sister Servants of Mary who the family wish to thank for their loving care and service. A special thank you to St. Lukes Hospice for all their compassionate care.
