William S. "Bill" Kilgore, 83, of Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at The Forum Skilled Nursing facility in Leawood, KS.

Born on November 21, 1928, in Kansas City, MO to Frank and Theresa Kilgore, Bill lived most of his life in the Kansas City metro area, as well as residing for a period of time in Kissimmee, FL. He served in the U.S. Army. On July 7, 1951, Bill married the love of his life, Pat. They were married for 54 years prior to Pat's passing in October of 2005. He cherished his memories of traveling across the country with Pat and playing golf with friends. He loved his pets. Bill also loved spending time playing cards with friends at The American Sons of Columbus in Kansas City, MO. His sense of humor touched everyone he knew. Bill was employed as an electrician, and spent many years with General Motors before retirement. He also loved buying and selling cars.

Those left to cherish his memory include his six children, sons: Charley Kilgore (Terri) Overland Park, Billy Kilgore, Overland Park, and Ken Kilgore (Carrie) Overland Park; daughters: Karen Meinert, Lenexa, Patti Kochman (Mark), Arvada CO, and Terri Dunaway (Mike), Wichita KS; as well as 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and brother: Robert Kilgore (Margaret) of Westfield IN. Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy, and brothers, Jack and Mike, and many friends.

Visitation will be on Monday, September 24, from 8:30-10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 911 E. Missouri Ave., Kansas City, MO, 64106. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m., with graveside service at Mt. Saint Mary's Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Forum, as well as Grace Hospice, for their loving care during Bill's stay. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Holy Rosary Catholic Church; or the Humane Society of Kansas City, 5445 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, KS 66104, to honor his love of animals.
