Billie May Masters "Grandma Billie" died on January 8, 2012. She was 82 years old. Billie was born on October 31, 1929 to Lillian May (Miller) McKinney and Oyd McKinney. She grew up in Kansas City, Missouri where she married Jessie Masters. They had six children: James, Jessie, Dorothy, Robert, Lillian and Sharon. Billie taught her children, grand-children and great grand-children that they could do anything they set their minds to. She often worked two jobs at a time as a nursing assistant in Kansas City area long term care facilities and hospitals before retiring in 1983. Billie's life passion was caring for babies—they could be her grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends or neighborhood children, it didn't matter. She loved them all the same and she made it her life's purpose to potty train them, get them on solid foods and ready for school. Billie made a lasting impression on everyone that she met, she never met a stranger and she will be forever missed.
Billie is survived by her four children: Jessie, Robert, Lillian and Sharon. Her brother Robert and sister Dorothy also survive her, as does many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The Funeral Mass will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 1029 Bennington, Kansas City, MO 64126. Flowers will be accepted at the church.
