Obituary

Byron Lee "Butch" Kelley, 81, passed on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at Ignite Medical Rehab.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Butch was raised in the Northeast area of Kansas City where he met and married Mary Ann Tuso in 1968.  After serving in the Army, Butch started his career in 1969 as an apprentice to become a skilled trade Millwright.  He was a proud member of Local #1529, until he retired in February 2003 at the age of 59.

Byron and his wife enjoyed his retirement by traveling throughout the US and Europe with friends.  He was known for his sense of humor and enjoyment of playing cards with friends.  Butch also loved nature and spending time with his grandsons on nature walks at Burr Oaks.

He was preceded in death by his son Benny Anthony; parents Edward and Elizabeth Kelley; in-laws Benny and Anna Marie Tuso; his brothers Edward, Richard, Bobby Kelley; and sister-in-law Connie Kelley.

Butch is survived by his wife of 57 years Mary Ann; son George Clark; grandsons Sean Clark and Christopher Clark; brother and sister-in-law Howard and Anna Kelley; and sister Katie Kelley.  He is also survived by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Kenny and Toni McCauley and Bill and Kay Ulm; aunts Loraine Dickinson and Thelma Kelley; and many nephews and nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, and cousins.

He will be sadly missed by not only his wife and son George, but the entire family who will never forget his sharp mind, humor, patience, kindness and above all generosity.
