Byron Eugene Pendleton, Sr., "Gene", was born June 19, 1932, in Cameron, Missouri. He was a beloved and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend to many. Gene passed away peacefully December 26, 2025, at the residence surrounded by his wife Theresa and family at the age of 93. Services will be held on Saturday, January 3, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Kansas City, MO. The Rosary will be prayed at 9:00 a.m. followed by Visitation at 9:30 a.m. and the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.

Gene is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Theresa (Malaponte) Pendleton; his three children Frank Pendleton (Leslie), Mary Morgan (Tom), and Byron Pendleton, Jr. (Kate); seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Margaret Malaponte; and many, many nieces and nephews.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents Frank Byron and Minnie Frances Pendleton; mother-in-law and father-in-law Congetta and Thomas Malaponti; sister and brother-in-law Geraldine and Dean McKee; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Sam and Carmeline Malaponti, Joe and Barbara Malaponti, Tony and Val Malaponti, Carl Malaponti, Mary and Dominick DiGirlamo, Lucy and Larry Arthur, Charlie Malaponte, Yvonne and Louie Malaponti, and Nancy Crist.

Gene served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years in 1987. He loved the farm, fishing, his garden, working on his home, and with his strong work ethic enjoyed being productive. He cherished his family, helped anyone he felt had a need and was a giver to all.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the caregivers who treated him like their family plus Interim Hospice staff for years of care which was unprecedented.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Frank Pendleton, Jr., James Pendleton, Thomas Morgan, Addison Hunziker, Byron Pendleton III, Robert Pendleton, and Timothy Morgan.
