Carl J Capra, Jr., 76, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away peacefully on October 1, 2024.

He is survived by his sons, Chris Drummond (Toni) and Jacob Capra, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Lucia Ornelas (Jose), Jerry Capra (Christine), and Liz Mease (JR), and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends. Carl was preceded in death by his parents Carl Sr. and Joan Capra, and his brother Frank Capra.

He attended Sacred Heart College in Wichita, Kansas, where he played basketball for two years. He graduated from Rockhurst College in 1970 with a B.A. in secondary education. Carl held a master's degree in counseling from Central Missouri State University and a master's degree in athletic administration from the University of Kansas. Coaching was Carl's passion. He coached and taught at Rockhurst University for 32 years. He coached men's and women's golf, women's soccer and men's basketball at Rockhurst. He also served as an assistant athletic director, compliance director, intramurals director and as a recruiter in the Rockhurst Admissions office.  In addition to his time at Rockhurst, he also coached at St. Pius X, O'Hara, and St. Mary's high schools.

To honor Carl's memory, a service will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Kansas City, Missouri, on Thursday, October 10, 2024. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. followed by Mass at 5:30 p.m. Private burial will be at a later date.

The family would like to thank Our Lady of Mercy Country Home, New Mark Care Center, and Catholic Community Health Hospice for the special care they provided to Carl.
