Carl Joseph Pittala, 75, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at Ashton Court Nursing Center. Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Sunday, August 18, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124, where the Rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 p.m. Monday, August 19, at St Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 6415 NE Antioch Rd., Gladstone, MO 64119, with inurnment following in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Crossroads Hospice of Kansas City.

Carl was a loving, hard-working and soft-spoken man who loved his family very much. He retired from Taystee Bread after 29 years of service. He proudly served his country and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army National Guard. He loved spending time with his family and will be deeply missed by all.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Salvatore "Sam" and Kelly Pittala; and one brother who died at birth. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sara (Lipari) Pittala; son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Mary Pittala; grandsons, John and Matthew Pittala; sisters and brothers-in-law, Santa and Vince Galate, Josephine and Mike Humar; brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Kitty Pittala, Dr. Leonard and Katie Pittala; mother-in-law, Frances Lipari; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Frances and Mike Guastello; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family would like to thank his caretakers at Ashton Court for their dedication, as well as special thanks to Brian, Pamela and Destiny from Crossroads Hospice for their compassionate care for Carl.
