Carla Marie (Lasker) Vause passed away November 2, 2023, at home surrounded by her family.

Carla was preceded in death by her father and mother Carl and Marie Lasker.  She leaves behind Joseph Raymond Lasker (brother), Anthony Vause (son), Jenny (daughter-in-law), Olive (granddaughter), Alicia Kuehl (daughter), PD Kuehl (son-in-law), Patrick Kuehl (grandson), and Claire Kuehl (granddaughter).

Carla spent her early years in northeast Kansas City, living four doors down from her grandmother Maggie Spalitto Lasker.  She later lived in Prairie Village and graduated high school from Bishop Miege. She raised her kids in Lenexa and was a member of Holy Trinity Parish. She most recently lived in Overland Park.

Carla received her undergraduate degree from Mid-American Nazarene College and her master's degree in social work from Washington University in St. Louis, MO.  She was in private practice for almost 30 years.  She also taught at Johnson County Community College and other area universities. She was a devoted counselor with a dedicated career prioritizing mental health.  She excelled at advocating for her clients.

Carla had many loyal and wonderful friends and enjoyed spending time with them, she was always up for a good laugh.

Carla was faithful and spiritual.  She was loyal to the Catholic Church and praying the rosary was her favorite prayer. Carla grew up with a small immediate family but had a very large extended Italian family that she had beautiful memories with.  Her Italian heritage was something she cherished.  She learned so much about life from her grandmother Maggie.

Carla was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother.  She would host all the family events. She often said raising her son and daughter were the best years of her life.  She gave them all the tools to be loving parents.  She also spoiled all her granddogs and they loved her like crazy. Carla's greatest joy was her grandchildren. She cooked their favorite - spaghetti and meatballs - and never said no to their requests. She will be greatly missed by her family.

The Rosary will be prayed at 5:00 p.m. followed by Visitation 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, November 10, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Overland Park, KS. Inurnment will be later at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Raytown, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Community Hospice or the Michael Kuehl Memorial Scholarship , both in care of Passantino Bros. Funeral Home.
