Carmela Marie
Badalucco
Jan 14, 1927 — Apr 8, 2021
Carmela Marie (Daleo) Badalucco, 94, passed away unexpectedly on April 8, 2021.
Carmela was born January 14, 1927 in Kansas City, MO, and grew up in the Northeast area. Her mother, Anna Marie (Benanti) Daleo, died when Carmela was two years old. She was raised by her beloved father, Sam Daleo, and loving grandmother, Carmela Daleo.
Carmela graduated from Northeast High School in 1944. She attended the University of Missouri-Columbia, an experience she cherished and one she often talked about with family and friends.
In 1946, Carmela married Anthony "Tony" Badalucco. They were married for 63 years until Tony's death in 2009.
Carmela worked for almost 20 years as a bookkeeper at City Hall in the Kansas City Water Services Department. She was a devoted NFL football and college basketball fan. She loved her Kansas City Chiefs and shared her coaching opinions with anyone who would listen.
Carmela possessed a quick wit and loved to laugh at herself. She was an avid reader throughout her life. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Europe, and had an appreciation of art and all things beautiful.
She was a precious mother to all of her children. Her beauty, grace and wisdom enriched us all. She taught by example the importance of faith, the treasures of friendship, and the impact of unselfish love. Her greatest joy was to make a beautiful life for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carmela is survived by her children and their spouses, Pete and Mary Badalucco, Sam and Karen Badalucco, Diane and Sam Mussorici, and Mark and Lisa Badalucco; eight grandchildren and spouses, Tony Badalucco, Joey and Marla Badalucco, Traci Badalucco, Michael and Lindsay Badalucco, Alexandra Mussorici, Michael Badalucco, Mark Badalucco, and Joe Badalucco; and three great-grandchildren, Olivia Badalucco, Ella Badalucco, and Sammy Badalucco.
Many thanks to Dr. Simon Szeto, the late Dr. Michael Montgomery, and Dr. Michael Farrar for their wonderful care.
The visitation will be held Thursday, April 15, 10:00 a.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 900 NE Shady Lane Drive, Kansas City, MO. The Mass of the Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 p.m. A private burial will be held afterward.
