Catherine LaPorte, 89, Independence, MO, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at The Villages of Jackson Creek. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Thursday, August 29, at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 3736 S. Lee's Summit Rd, Independence, MO 64055, where the Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the St. Mary's Parish Food Pantry, 600 N. Liberty St., Independence, MO 64050.

Catherine was born September 20, 1923, in Kansas City, MO to Joseph and Rose (Spallo) Lucito. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sam LaPorte, in 1997; and brothers, Tony, Gus, and Paul Lucito.

Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Mary and Scotty Moore, Rosa Lee LaPorte; granddaughter, Kristi Moore; and cousin, Marie Saluto.
