Catherine Theresa "Kay" Tamburello, 86, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2016. Visitation will begin with the Rosary at 3 p.m. and continue until 6 p.m. on Sunday, January 10, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124. Family and friends will gather on Monday, January 11, at St. James Catholic Church, 309 S. Stewart Rd., Liberty, MO 64068, where the Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 12 p.m. Burial will follow at Mount St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to St. James Parish.
Kay was born July 9, 1929, in Kansas City, MO, to Charles and Mary (Lombardo) Tamburello. She was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, and worked at Tension Envelope for 44 years before retiring in 1999. She was a devoted Catholic and former member of St. John the Baptist and St. Anthony's Parishes. Kay loved spending time with friends traveling, playing bingo, bocce, and bowling – she once bowled a 300 game, and was a longtime member of the American Daughters of Columbus. She enjoyed caring for animals, especially cats, and was an avid Royals and Chiefs fan.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Vita Triolo, Leona Tegtmeyer, Carmela Collins, Elizabeth DeCaro, and Carol Angela Tamburello. She is survived by her siblings, Rose Smith (Bob), Pauline Crouse (Bob), Carl Tamburello (Paula); and numerous loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
