Virigina Christine "Chris" Yasso, of Lee's Summit, Missouri passed away on August 20, 2025, at the age of 73.

Born on May 24, 1952, in Independence, Missouri, Chris was the youngest of six children born to Oscar and Virginia Marx. She was a proud graduate of William Chrisman High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Education from Northwest Missouri State University.

Chris was united in marriage to Joseph "Joe" Yasso of Kansas City, and together they shared 50 years of devoted partnership. Her professional career was dedicated to the Lee's Summit R-7 School District, where she served with care and distinction—first at the Early Childhood Center and later as the principal's administrative assistant at Hazel Grove Elementary School, a role she held for over two decades.

In addition to her professional commitments, Chris was a loving and engaged mother of three sons. She actively supported their activities, including serving as a Pack Leader for Cub Scout Pack 220 in Lee's Summit. She also cherished time with friends, particularly through her Bunco group, and took great pride in her leadership as a Past President of the Auxiliary Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physician and Surgeons (AMAOPS).

Chris found joy in the kitchen, especially when teaching her children and grandchildren how to cook and bake cherished family recipes — most notably her signature pasta sauce and meatballs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Virginia Marx; her sister, Artye; and brothers, Jim, Don, and Bobby.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Joe Yasso; her sister, Shirley; and her three sons: Tim Yasso and his wife Sabrina of Lee's Summit, Missouri; Mike Yasso and his wife Amanda of Melbourne, Florida; and Nick Yasso and his wife Shaina of Peculiar, Missouri. She is also lovingly remembered by her seven grandchildren: Sydney, Brooklyn, Bradley, Charlotte, Blake, Gracelyn, and Bella.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 28, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church in Lee's Summit. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the same location on Friday, August 29, at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities Serve and Lift Center of Kansas City.
