Obituary

Christine Marie (Smith) Masri passed away on July 20, 2026, at the age of 68.

Christine was born on June 6, 1958, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut. She spent her school years in East Hartford, Connecticut and Fairport, New York, before attending Bryant & Stratton Business School in Buffalo, New York, where she studied typesetting and art.

After college, Christine moved with her family to Kearney, Missouri. She began her career as a typesetter for the local newspaper, where she designed advertisements, including grocery store ads for the weekly publication. She later worked as a customer service representative for JCPenney and spent time helping her family at Paradise Liquors in Kearney, Missouri.

Christine had a creative spirit and a generous heart. She loved making handmade jewelry and crafts and was an exceptional cook and her specialty was desserts. She found great joy in sharing her talents and creating lasting memories with those she loved.

Although Christine never had children of her own, she treasured the opportunity to help raise her niece and nephew, offering them love, guidance, and encouragement throughout their lives. She also had a special love for animals, cherishing her pet rabbit and always having a faithful dog by her side.

Later in life, Christine courageously faced the challenges of disability, which gradually limited her ability to enjoy many of the activities she once loved. Even through those difficult years, she remained a loyal friend with a wonderful sense of humor and a kind heart. She will be remembered for her creativity, generosity, laughter, and the love she shared so freely with her family and friends.

Christine was preceded in death by her father; her stepfather; her sister, Kimberly Smith; her brother, George Smith; and her stepbrother, Andrew Snyder.

She is lovingly survived by her mother, Janice Smith-Snyder; her brother, Christopher Smith; her stepbrothers, Karl Snyder, Joseph Snyder, and Joseph's daughters, Katy, Betsy, Mary Ann and Kristina and their families; her nieces, Tessa, Josephine, Delaney, Alexa and Arianna; her nephews, Dalton and Declan; as well as many other relatives and dear friends who will cherish her memory.

Services will be held on Monday, August 10, at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church in Independence, MO. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Kansas City North.

Christine's kindness, creativity, and unwavering love for her family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
