Obituary

Christopher "Chris" Hugh Pickett passed away unexpectedly in Delray Beach, Florida in the early morning hours of July 25, 2021, at the age of 51.  Christopher is survived by his wife, Heather (Petznick) Pickett; his children, Sina McLin (24), Mara (14), Ian (11), and Talia (9); his parents, James and Nancy Pickett, and his sister, Cheryl (Pickett) Bruner.

Christopher was born on March 31, 1970, in Everett, Washington.  A 1988-graduate of Oak Park High School, Chris earned his Political Science degree with a minor in International Relations from Truman State University (1992), his Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law (1997), and his Legum Magister (LLM) in Taxation (2005) from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law.  He spent his legal career as in-house counsel, specializing in fintech companies.

Christopher and Heather were married August 15, 1999, and blessed with four beautiful children.  His children remember him as a generous, loving father who encouraged them to pursue their passions and goals and to lead lives of generosity and virtue.

Christopher was a faithful and dedicated son, husband, father, and friend, who was quick to share his dry wit and to give counsel to anyone who asked.  Passionate about life, education, and his faith, he was an accomplished student, avid reader, and learner of all things.  He was a proud Eagle Scout and was an active and dedicated member of the Old St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

A visitation is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 2, 2021, with the Holy Rosary to be prayed at 8:00 p.m. at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 6415 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, Missouri.  A Solemn Requiem Mass will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at Old St. Patrick Roman Catholic Oratory, 806 Cherry Street, Kansas City, Missouri (on-street parking only), followed by graveside burial at Resurrection Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations to https://gofund.me/ef19e4a7 .
