Clara Marie Warnock's Obituary
Clara Marie Warnock, 83, passed away January 18, 2015. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, January 22, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124, where the Rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, January 23, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 911 E. Missouri Ave., Kansas City, MO 64106. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Clara Sirna was born December 17, 1931, in Kansas City, MO. She attended Garfield Elementary and was a graduate of Northeast High School. She remained close with many of her childhood friends and classmates. Clara married Don Warnock on July 14, 1951, the day of the great Kansas City flood. Many times Clara said her life with Don was far beyond anything she could have imagined as a little girl growing up on Olive Street. They travelled the world together with their best friends, known to all as "The Travellers". Clara was always one to stay active and she was a member and tireless volunteer for many organizations such as the American Sons & Daughters of Columbus, Kansas City Musettes, The Barn Players, UNICO, The Garfield Girls, and her lifelong passion, the Bocce team. Clara was honored as Columbiana of the Year in 2008.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Jennie Sirna; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Tony and Anna Marie Sirna, Jerry and Rose Sirna, Madeline Sirna, and Mary Alice Thomas; her great-granddaughter, Kristen Wheeler; and her husband Don, her protector and knight in shining armor.
Survivors include her son, Don Warnock and wife Carolyn; her daughters, Barbara Bauer, Julie Crowther, and Sherri Perkins; 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; brother, Peter Sirna; sister and brother-in-law, Rita Ann and George Distefano; sisters-in-law, Rosalie Williamson, and Paula Sue Brown; and all her nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family of friends.
We wish to thank all our family and friends for the respect you gave our Mom, the kindness you have shown, and all the love you each shared with this special woman. We carry her in our hearts. God bless you Mom, we will see you in heaven.
