Craig A. Van Compernolle, 50, of Lee's Summit, MO, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at Lee's Summit Medical Center, after a long battle with emphysema, with his family at his side.
Craig was born July 14, 1965, in Kansas City, MO, to George A. and Mary Jo Van Compernolle. He was a lifelong Kansas City area resident and graduated from Truman High School in Independence, MO, in 1983. Craig worked as a laborer for several years before being struck by a car in 2003, paralyzing him from the waist down. He had been living in a nursing facility for the past several months due to his poor health.
Craig was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Henry A. and Dora Ranallo; his mother, Mary Jo Ranallo; and his uncle, Joseph A. Ranallo. He leaves behind his son, C.J. Cascone and wife Katy; two grandchildren, Alicia and Anthony; son, Casey Van Compernolle and girlfriend Taylor Pace; brother, Scott Van Compernolle of Oklahoma; sister, Tamara J. Smith and husband Gregg of Lee's Summit, MO; brother, Mark Van Compernolle of Louisiana; and sister, Stacey M. Rivera of Georgia.
Craig was cremated and will be buried with his mother at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Raytown, MO. Condolences may be offered at www.passantinobros.com.
