On Thursday, January 16, 2025, Daniel M. McHugh, Jr. joined Edith L. McHugh (née Pulliam), his best friend and deceased wife, in heaven.  His earthly family is bereft but relieved at the same time he is no longer suffering.  He valiantly endured eight weeks of radiation and chemo treatments every Monday through Friday five days a week, which concluded on Monday, January 13, 2025.

Daniel Jr. (a Navy veteran) was born on September 22, 1947, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to his parents, Daniel McHugh, Sr. and Rosemary McHugh (née Folz).  His paternal grandparents emigrated from Donegal, Ireland and his maternal grandmother emigrated from Galway, Ireland.  His maternal grandfather was of German descent.

He is survived by his loving sons Daniel M. McHugh III and Roy McHugh, beloved daughter-in-law Amie, and his grandchildren, the lights of his life - granddaughters 16-year-old Tess, 15-year-old Ella, and 11-year-old grandson, Daniel.

He was also the oldest child of six in his family and is survived by his sister Rosemary "Reds", his brother Tom (Nancy), and his sisters Kathy (Glen), Margie (Bob) and Betty (Tom).  He's also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

If anyone needed help, everyone in the family knew Dan would be front and center.  Who could ask for a better epitaph?

Services will be held on Thursday, January 23, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m. He will be cremated following the services, according to his wishes.

Memorial contributions in Dan's memory are suggested to the El Salvador Education Fund at St. Patrick's Parish; or the Bishop Sullivan Center, 6435 Truman Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64126.
