David Anthony Hernandez Jr. of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on March 4, 2026, at the age of 51.
Born on September 20, 1974, in the same city he called home throughout his life, David's journey was one of dedication, hard work, and love for his family. He attended Westport High School and later pursued his passion for aviation at aviation school. After completing his studies, he embarked on a successful career as an airplane repair technician. For over two decades, David excelled in this field, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues through his expertise and unwavering commitment. Following his retirement from aviation, he brought the same level of skill and dedication to his work at Panasonic, where he continued to make meaningful contributions until his passing.
David is survived by the love of his life Andrea Hernandez; his father David Hernandez Sr.; his mother Gloria Hernandez; and his two children David Hernandez III and Angelina Hernandez. He also leaves behind three sisters: Janette Rogers (Brent), Lisa Hernandez, and Gina Reyes (Anthony); as well as four brothers: Leonard Scales (Lena), Marcellas Hill (Nicole), and Robert Hernandez (Tierra), and Sean Meader. Additionally, David is remembered fondly by numerous cousins whom he considered as close as siblings.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Geronimo and Eleanor Hernandez; maternal grandparents David and Modesta Hernandez; and his nephew Dominic Hernandez.
David's legacy is one of hard work, devotion to family, and a life well-lived. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 11, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Boulevard, Kansas City, MO 64124. A reception will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Guadalupe Center, 1015 Avenida Cesar E Chavez, Kansas City, MO 64108
