Diane B. Bondon Markle, 78, of Overland Park, Kansas, the beloved matriarch of her family passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 12th, 2025, at Delmar Gardens of Lenexa. She leaves behind a legacy of steadfast hope in our Lord and in Christ's unfailing love for His children.

Diane, the eldest of three, was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on May 3rd, 1946. She is preceded in death by her parents Antonetta Maria (Anna Mae DiCapo) and Michael Frank Bondon. Diane was raised in the Northeast on 9th Street, a close-knit neighborhood that included her beloved great-grandparents, Frances ("Mama Fran" Solito) and Baldassaro DiCapo. It was here that Diane's deep Italian Catholic values and devotion to family took root. Diane attended St. Aloysius grade school, ranking among the honor pupils for her punctuality and strong work ethic, serving as a reporter and editor for the school paper.

Later the family moved south raising their family in Christ the King parish, where Diane flourished, she loved her classmates, the CYO dances and was crowned the De La Salle Homecoming Queen. St. Teresa's Academy celebratory graduation gifts included the new Better Homes and Garden cookbook and her own set of dishes. Diane loved being with people and for a short time worked as a dental hygienist. She had such a flare of style and class. Diane lost her mother to breast cancer. At the tender age of 19, she became a mother to her two young brothers, Anthony Charles Bondon (Linda) and Baldassaro Carl (Bill) Bondon (Debi). Diane married her high school sweetheart, and they had two children. Diane is preceded in death by her eldest son, Anthony Michael DeAngelo, and first husband, Ronald Anthony DeAngelo. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Marie DeAngelo; son, Tyler Monroe Markle (Brandi) and stepdaughter, Misty (Markle) Rieff (Tom). After the death of her father, she married Alva Monroe Markle, Jr. and moved to St. Catherine of Siena parish. They celebrated 50 years of marriage on December 30th.

Diane's home has always been the gathering place for family and friends with the world's greatest neighbors. Diane absolutely loved her family. She is survived by her seven grandchildren that she absolutely adored: Amber Nicole DeAngelo, Alyssandra Diane Heefner, Aydn Monroe Heefner, Trent Monroe (Kharis) Markle, Chase Monroe Markle, Cole Monroe Markle and Kristen Rieff. Diane is also survived by many cousins, great nieces and nephews, and friends who loved her deeply. Diane is survived by her nephew, Michael Bondon and preceded in death by her niece, Rosemary Bondon and beloved sister-in-law, Nancy (McDandel Bondon) Powell. Diane's family looks forward to welcoming Diane's first great-granddaughter, in the month of July, sharing the birth month with Diane's mother and daughter. Diane learned from her mother and grandmother the sacred art of creating a loving, warm home, where traditions centered on faith, culture, and of course, food! She devoted her life to making a home for her family, one that was always full of good smells like Moma Fran's homemade rolls. Diane never knew a stranger, and no one ever left her home hungry. She found immense joy in baking and preparing for the holidays and the St. Joseph tables. There's nothing she loved more than having her family all together. She loved her aunts, uncles, cousins and best friends that were more like sisters and brothers. Diane was a loyal and steadfast confidant to many.

Diane worked as the Assistant to the President of Rockhurst High School, where she was steadfast support and a daughter in Christ of Fr. John (Jack) M. Hunthausen, S.J. They shared a special life-long bond. She loved being at Rockhurst with her son and his classmates that looked to her like a second mother, as so many did throughout her life. Later through her labor of love, Ultra Care, Diane was honored for her support of the Hope House; an organization that helps survivors of domestic violence and their children in the Kansas City area. Over the years of Diane's illness, she and her daughter created a legacy project, Triumph for the Family™, to strengthen families and carry forth their family's passion for helping others. A woman of loyalty, strength and grace, Diane was the heartbeat of her family, fiercely loving and protective, especially of her children and grandchildren. She was admired for not only her physical beauty but for her nurturing spirit and her unwavering devotion to those she loved. Diane's strength, courage and faith will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by her unwavering devotion and boundless love.

Diane was one of a kind, her love rippling in honor of our ancestors and loving hope for her descendants. The DiCapo and Bondon families were instrumental in founding Holy Rosary as part of the Saint John Baptist Scalabrini, international religious community serving Italian migrants and refugees. Holy Rosary continues to adorn the Bondon family crest in the vestibule of the church, an embodiment of the love and unending compassion of our strong Sicilian community.

The Rosary will be prayed at 10:00 a.m., led by Christ Renews His Parish Team #17 sisters in Christ, followed by visitation. Mass will be Celebrated by, Fr. Richard Storey, of Cure' of Ars, at 12:00 p.m. Diane and her beloved son, Anthony Michael, will be laid to rest with Diane's parents.
