Dominick J. Orlando passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 26, 2025.

Don was born on September 5, 1941, to Louis Orlando, Jr. and Nancy (Molinaro) Orlando. He was a lifelong Kansas City resident, graduating from Assumption Grade School and later DeLaSalle High School. A proud veteran, he served his country in the United States Army.

Don was blessed with a beautiful singing voice. He channeled his love of music, along with his childhood friend Bob Messina and two others, by forming the singing group 'The Uniques' who, throughout the 1960's and 70's, delighted audiences at many different Kansas City venues - once opening for The Dave Clark Five and Chuck Berry, to name a few. His enduring passion for music was evident, not only in his singing, but also in his exceptional dancing.

For 50 plus years he shared his personal warmth towards others as a barber, along the way building a community of lifelong friends. His barbershop was a haven of laughter, stories, and camaraderie, reflecting his dedication to fostering deep and abiding relationships.

He was also an avid Kansas City Royals fan cheering on his team with unmatched enthusiasm, enjoyed the occasional round of golf, and dining out often as he considered himself "quite the foodie".

Don and Lucille shared a love of travel, exploring many destinations, but especially Italy where he delighted in immersing himself in the culinary and cultural traditions of his family heritage.

Don's charismatic personality, vibrant smile, kindness and consideration, fun loving nature, and bear hugs made him "unforgettable." Those fortunate enough to know him have a cherished "Donnie Story" - all of which highlight the unique, personal impact he had on their lives.

When all is said and done, Don was, first and foremost, a devoted family man.

He now rests in peace with his parents Louis Jr. and Nancy Orlando, and Helen Orlando; brother Dr. Louis Orlando III; brother-in-law Joe Mike Christifano; mother-in-law Virginia Caracci; and father-in-law Dominic Cervello.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lucille; his adored daughters and sons-in-law Nancy and John Martin Engelke, Sharmaine and David Moore; and his treasured grandchildren Elena, Jack and Leo Engelke, Dominick and Natalee Moore and Hannah Moore, who adored their "Papa D".

He also shared a special bond with his sons-in-law, embracing them as his own sons and valuing the unique relationships they built together.

Donnie is also survived by his sister Phyllis Christifano; sister-in-law Arlene Orlando; brothers-in law Joe "Red" Cervello and Charlie Cervello; nieces and nephews: Anna and Jim Balestrere, Al and Susan Christifano, Louis and Kerry Christifano, Louis Orlando IV, Lisa Orlando, Laura and Craig Volpe, Jennifer and Joe Vigliaturo, Dominic and Elaina Cervello, Tony Mike Cervello and Charla Cervello; great-nieces and great-nephews, countless family members, and friends.

Services will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 911 Missouri Avenue, Kansas City Missouri 64106. On Monday, February 3, 2025, the Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m. followed by Visitation from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Church. The Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at the Church. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery Kansas City North. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Saint Therese Catholic Church, 7207 NW Highway 9, Kansas City Missouri 64152; or Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

The family would like to thank In-Home Care Services, Kansas City Hospice and a very special thank you to Moh and Julius, with whom Don shared a special bond for their love, care and devotion.
