Donald V. Costanzo, Sr., 77, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2016. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. with the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 5, at St. Therese Catholic Church, 7207 NW Highway 9, Parkville, MO 64152. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Donald Vincent Costanzo was born on April 16, 1938, in Kansas City, MO, to Peter and Margaret Costanzo. He graduated from DeLaSalle Military Academy in 1955 and was recipient of the Truman Award. After high school he went on to earn a degree in mechanical engineering from Finlay College. Throughout his life Don developed, owned and operated various skilled care nursing homes and retirement apartments in Kansas City, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Tulsa, and Omaha.
Don loved his family, friends, and living at the lake. Often family and friends would gather to boat, fish, swim, and eat Don's smoked ribs and chicken. Don was also an avid Chiefs and Royals fan – he watched every game.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Gloria Costanzo; daughter, Margaret Costanzo and her husband Mark Ferguson; son, Donald Costanzo, Jr. and his wife Tina Arnone-Costanzo; five grandchildren: Dominic Costanzo, Mikayla Ferguson, Kara Costanzo, Mark Ferguson, Jr., and Sarina Costanzo; his two brothers, John Costanzo and his wife Connie, and Peter Costanzo and his wife Carol. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces, and grand-nephews and nieces.
Don was a kind, loving, generous and loyal friend to everyone he met. He will always be in the hearts and minds of everyone who knew him.
