Dorothy Ruby Folk Stockman, 80, passed away Monday, April 29, 2013, at NorthCare Hospice House. Memorial Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 10, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124. Graveside inurnment services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Gladstone, MO. Dorothy was born on August 23, 1932, in Tucumcari, New Mexico. She was raised in the Catholic faith and attended St. Anne's Catholic School. Being the fourth oldest of twelve children, Dorothy developed a strong work ethic and skills as a cook and caregiver at an early age. As a teenager she worked at the picture show and in her early twenties at "Harry's", a train sandwich shop. It was there that a twenty-six year old rail road telegrapher from Liberty, MO, William Martin Stockman, met the twenty-two year old waitress. And... the rest is history!

They were married in 1955. The couple moved to Kansas City, MO in 1959 and built a house on North Brighton Ave, where she resided for the next fifty-three years. Dorothy was a deeply devoted mother to her six children and always put their well-being first. From 1978-83 and 1985-95 she worked at the NKC Bowl snack bar where she was adored by both her employers and her customers for her sharp wit and friendly demeanor.

Dorothy had a passion for music and loved the standards and classics. Her love for her father and his musical talents inspired her to encourage her own children (and grandchildren) to play music. Dorothy was a fair-weather fan of the Chiefs and Royals. She will always be remembered for her compassion, quick wit, sense of humor, and generosity. This special lady will be deeply missed by everyone she touched.

Preceding her in death was the father of her children, William Martin Stockman; parents, Herbert Clarence and Elvira Folk; brothers, Henry Folk, Donald Folk, Edwin Folk, and Jacob Folk; sisters, Mary Lou Nash and Mary Ellen Menard and son, Kevin B. Stockman.

She is survived by sons, William Michael Stockman of Kansas City, MO, and David R. Stockman of Newark, DE; daughters, Rhonda Dewhurst of Kansas City, MO, Carla A. LaRocca of Lawrence, KS, and Jana Rodriquez of Gladstone, MO; brother Robert Folk of Albuquerque, NM; sisters, Martha Purvis of Oklahoma City, OK, Patsy Nash of Los Angeles, CA, Margie White of Albuquerque, NM, and Linda Folk of Santa Fe, NM; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
