Elizabeth Ann DeLisio Atkinson, 85, passed away peacefully on her birthday, July 31, 2026, at Liberty Hospital.

Liz was born on July 31, 1941, in Kansas City, Missouri, to the late George and Helen (Saia) Delisio. A lifelong resident of the Kansas City area, she graduated from Northeast Senior High School. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, family member, and friend. Family was the center of her life, and she took great pride in raising her three sons. She was actively involved in their sporting activities and cherished every moment spent supporting them.

Liz was a dedicated member of the Red Hat Society, where she enjoyed spending time with her many friends. She had a remarkable talent for crafts, sewing, and crocheting, and lovingly created countless handmade gifts and sold many of her beautiful, handcrafted items over the years.

Along with her parents, Liz was preceded in death by her son Patrick Atkinson; her sister Marian Canzonere; her brother Joe Canzonere; her brother George Delisio; her nephew Frank Cardello; and her great-nephew Benny Cardello.

She is lovingly survived by her sons Chris Atkinson (Terry) of Phoenix, Arizona, and Joey Atkinson of San Diego California; her grandchildren Lisa Lansford and Carrie Brooks; three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; her brother Chris Delisio (Bobbie) of Buffalo, New York; her sister Margaret Cardello; her sister-in-law Rosie Delisio; her brother-in-law Benny Cardello (Diana); her lifelong best friend Fana Vogelbaugh (Cona); and many beloved nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Liz had two nieces, Mariann Canzonere and Cathy Cardello Cosentino, who took care of her and were like daughters to her.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at Liberty Hospital and Harbor Hospice for the compassionate care and kindness they provided to Liz during her final days.

Liz will be remembered for her loving heart, creative spirit, unwavering devotion to her family, and the joy she brought to everyone who knew her. Her memory will forever live in the hearts of those who loved her.

Services will be held on Thursday, August 6, at St. Gabriel Archangel Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Inurnment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
