Obituary

Eloina Fiallo Rodriguez, 86, of Quivican, Cuba and Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 3, 2021, surrounded by her beloved family.

Family and friends will honor her life on Thursday, May 6th at St. Charles Borromeo Church, KCMO. Visitation will be from 3:30 to 4:00 pm, with Mass immediately to follow.

Eloina was born on June 6, 1934 to Arturo Fiallo and Maria Oliva and was the sixth of nine children. She is survived by her two sons, two daughters-in-law, six granddaughters, and a great-grandson on the way.

Eloina was an exceptionally loving, caring, and religious woman. She was guided by her faith in God and Santa Barbara. She found her greatest calling in her role as a mother and grandmother. Nevertheless, Elly was a woman full of passion and fire and driven by ambition. She regularly broke glass ceilings during a time when women were not even expected to push boundaries in the workplace. Eloina forged her path, which included becoming a valued mechanic for TWA and proving the naysayers wrong along the way.

Eloina consistently worked hard towards her dreams and goals for both herself and her family. Following her passion led to her greatest career and personal achievement which was becoming an accomplished dress designer.  Elly instilled into her children and family the principle that anything is possible if you work hard and believe in yourself. She led by example but also taught and mentored those around her. Limitations were never a barrier to her success as a mother, grandmother, friend, and career woman.

Eloina was a driven, dynamic go-getter, always looking to improve, and she lived by the credo of "never say never."  Everything is possible, and she exemplified that throughout her storied life.  Guided by her faith, she was a selfless woman who always put her family and faith before herself.  She will be sorely missed by her family and friends but will forever be in their hearts and minds.
