Finis Elizabeth (Cross) Polito, 95, of Kansas City, MO, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2020, after a courageous battle of illness. Visitation will be  2-6 p.m. Sunday, January 26, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124, where the Rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, January 27, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 309 Benton Blvd., KCMO 64124, followed by burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Please omit flowers.

Born in Cameron, MO, January 18, 1925, to the late James S. and Bertha F. (Graham) Cross, she went to school in Cameron before coming to Kansas City in 1943 with two of her sisters, Wilma and Georgie. Finis worked with her sister Wilma at Tranin's Cold Storage Egg Co. and Beaumont's Military Supply. Wilma married John Sebbeto in 1945. Finis met her future husband, Anthony "Tony" Polito through suggestions from Tony's mother that there was a "nice young lady she wanted him to meet." He would squat in front of Jennie's Italian Restaurant to say hi to Finis when she was going to work. They were married September 8, 1951 and were together 30 years before Tony preceded her in death in 1982. Finis was also preceded in death by her parents; brother Glen Floyd Cross; sisters Thelma Iona (Cross) Stoddard, Goldie Bernice (Cross) Hontz, Julia Mae (Cross) Upchurch, Georgie Lorene (Cross) Brake, Wilma Beatrice (Cross)  Sebbeto, and Fern Juanita (Cross) Scott. Of Finis and Tony's marriage were two sons, Joseph Polito (Sherry) and John Polito (Teresa). She then became a homemaker. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren: Anthony Polito, Joseph Polito, Chris Polito, Vincent Polito, Erik Minet, Jason Polito, Heather Lopez, Nick Minet, and Jackie Cox; great-grandchildren: Kali Ann, Giavanna, Nathan, Scarlett, Kaitlyn, Alexis, Isabela, Brianna, Tyler, Dakota, Dylan, Ciara, Oscar, Hunter, and Alejandro; and great-grandson Matthew. She also leaves nieces, nephews and cousins.

All of Finis' family will cherish their many memories of her. She was a big fan of the Royals and Chiefs, who she was hoping for a Super Bowl win!
