Obituary

Florence Ann Distefano, our loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2024, surrounded by family, and is now home with her Lord and Savior.

Florence was born January 28, 1935, in Kansas City, Missouri, to the late Vito and Anna (Burasco) Grigoli.  She was a graduate of Glennon high school and married her high school sweetheart, John Distefano.

Florence loved family and would prepare Sunday dinners for anyone who wanted to come.  She was a caregiver to everyone and loved to help people in need.   On Sunday's, everyone looked forward to Nani's meatballs, thus getting the name from the great grandchildren Nani Meatball.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John Distefano; great-grandson Jude Kettner; sister and brother-in-law Frances and Tony Spitaleri; father-in-law and mother-in-law Joe and Katherine Distefano; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Rose and Sal Cuccia, Karen Distefano, Sylvia and John Simone. She leaves behind her daughter Cathy Scimeca (Louie); sons Mike Distefano (Sonie) and John Distefano; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother Joe Grigoli; brothers-in-law Nick Distefano and Carl Distefano (Trish); and many nieces and nephews.

The family offers special thanks to the caregivers at Oxford Grand for the excellent care and love they provided, and also to the staff of Phoenix Hospice.

Services will be held on Monday, October 28, at the Chapel at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the Celebration of Life following at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
