Frances M. Alkire passed away Monday, June 26, 2023, in Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Frances was born in Kansas City, MO on July 30, 1947, to Magdalena and Sam Modica. She remained in Kansas City for her formative years and would later marry William Alkire. Her work with AT&T would eventually lead to a move for her, husband Bill, and her mother to Lawrenceville Georgia in 1990.  She would continue with a long and successful career with AT&T, retiring, returning to the company, and then retiring again.

Frances was an avid reader and belonged to the Readers Digest Book of the Month Club for 50 years. She was an animal lover and was rarely without at least one dog, always treating them as family. Frances was vice-president of the local chapter of the Tiny Stitches Club that provides basic clothing, bedding, and other items for families of newborns in North Georgia who were in need. She made waterproof plastic mats for the homeless, collecting the plastic bags, cutting them into strips and then crocheting them into mats. She was an active member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church of Lawrenceville, eventually working as the church secretary. She also spent hours volunteering her time as a member of the Women's Guild helping to organize annual bazaars and fundraisers.

Frances is preceded in death by her parents and husband. She leaves behind her cousins and many friends.

The Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, July 12, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 14, at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri.
