Frances Rog, 96, passed away on July 31, 2026, surrounded by friends and family at Little Sisters of the Poor. She was born on February 17, 1930, in Kansas City, MO, to Luz and Antonia (Perez) Aguirre.

She first married Ignacio "Nacho" Orozco in 1949. They had five children together named Eugenia, Matthew, Robert, Mario, and Ignacio "Jr". Nacho passed away in 1958. She married John Rog in 1964, and they had four daughters named Roberta, Cecilia, Mary, and Jan.  They divorced in 1978 and John passed away in 2007.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and her son, Mario. Survivors include her sister Josephine Hernandez of Salina, KS, eight children, and many grand and great-grandchildren.

Frances was a lifelong educator.  As a teenager she accompanied her grandfather "Papsy" to his citizenship classes and stayed to help the other students. She grew up on the Westside of Kansas City in Our Lady of Guadalupe parish, attended Redemptorist Catholic school, and was proud of her participation in her neighborhood's Hispanic heritage.  She was crowned Queen of the Fiesta at age 18.

A young widow, Frances received a scholarship and graduated from Avila College with her bachelor's degree in education in 1963.  She pursued a graduate program in deaf education at The University of Kansas (KU) until that degree became unfeasible with the demands of being single mother and sole breadwinner for her family.  She was an educator at Bishop Helmsing Early Childhood and for the Kansas City School District as a classroom teacher.  She taught Spanish immersion at Fairmount Elementary, special education at Southwest High School, and multiple grade levels at Switzer Elementary.  She volunteered with religious education and activities for the Community Handicapped (REACH) at St. Francis Xavier Church in the 1970s. After retirement, Frances continued to teach and many families knew her as the nickname "Paquita".  She volunteered to teach Spanish at St. John LaLande Catholic school and traveled to El Salvador with Books for Peace for literacy and community development related to education for seven years.

Frances enjoyed her final years at Little Sisters of the Poor in Kansas City where she loved to garden, participate in activities, and share meals at the "rowdy" table.

Services will be held on Friday, August 7, at Little Sisters of the Poor Jeanne Jugan Center. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Mt. Saint Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Little Sisters of the Poor ; or the Guadalupe Center
