Fred Heid was an exceptional man who unfortunately lost his battle to stomach cancer on April 16, 2012. As a Civil Engineer, Fred built many beautiful buildings that stand strong today. However, it was the friendships that he built and the lives that he touched that will serve as his legacy. He lived out his faith everyday and was an active member of Nativity Catholic Church in Leawood, KS.

Fred was born June 14th, 1953, in Erie, PA, but grew up in Beaver, PA. A proud Penn State alumni, he wore his blue and white loud and proud, even after he transferred to Jayhawk country. Fred was always the life of the party and made sure everyone else was attended to before his own needs were met. Fred worked in Kansas City at Black and Veatch, The Austin Company, and most recently at Burns and McDonnell. His proudest career moment was being the Project Manager for the new Kansas City Star building.

However, Fred cherished faith, family, and friends more than his work. The memories he made and the moments he spent with others are what will be remembered. He was the best dad, husband, neighbor, son, brother, and friend a person could have. He will be so dearly missed, but those left here on Earth are comforted by the thoughts that Fred has finally "gone home". He is now reunited with his father, Frederick and cherished friends.

To celebrate his life and spirit, friends and family are coming together Saturday April 21st, at Nativity Catholic Church. A wake will be held from 9:30-11:30 AM followed immediately by Mass. Burial will take place in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Please join his family: wife Ann, daughter Emily, his mother, sisters, and in-laws on Saturday to share Fred stories and shed a tear or two over the life and the legacy of Fred Heid.
