George Bodnar Smith, 52, passed away May 6, 2021. Visitation will begin 9 a.m. with the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 15, at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church, Independence, MO. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Kansas City North, followed by a reception at Nativity Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the KC Pet Project.

George was born November 18, 1968 in Manchester, Connecticut. He was a 1986 graduate of Kearney, MO High School, and worked as a manager for several companies including Conoco. George loved animals, especially cats. He was a thoughtful and considerate son and brother who dearly loved his nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his father William Z. Smith; his sister Kimberly Ann Smith; and his stepfather Chalmes "CW" Snyder. He is survived by his mother Janice B. Smith Snyder; his sister Christine Masri; his brother Christopher Smith; stepbrothers Joseph, Andrew, and Karl Snyder; many nieces and nephews; and several aunts including Shirley Snyder Williams.
