George Taft, age 78, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2024.

Born in Manhattan, New York in 1945 to William Taft and Elaine Pearson Taft, George spent his childhood in Englewood, New Jersey. He relocated to Kansas City in the 1960s, where he pursued and completed his degree at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). Furthering his education, George graduated from Seton Hall Law School, eventually establishing a respected career as an attorney in Kansas City for over three decades.

George's life was rich with passions and commitments. He was an avid outdoorsman, finding joy in camping, canoeing, and fishing. His leadership and dedication to Boy Scout Troop 80 made a lasting impact, fostering a love for adventure and the outdoors in countless young lives. Music filled George's home, with a particular fondness for Blues and Jazz that he shared with friends and family alike. His creativity knew no bounds, as evident in his pursuits of acting and filmmaking alongside his son. George's love for the holidays, especially Halloween, was renowned, with his elaborate displays bringing joy and festivity to his community.

George's legacy is carried on by his beloved wife of 48 years, Vita Taft (nee DeSimone), his daughter Penelope Still (Jim), and his son William Taft (Erin). He was a proud grandfather to Madeline, Matthew, Max, Mason, Marianne Still, Addison, and Vita Rose Taft, who will miss his warmth, wisdom, and the boundless love he had for them.

Preceded in death by his father William Taft, and mother Elaine Pearson Taft, George's memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Troop 80 Boy Scout Fund, in recognition of George's dedication to nurturing the potential and character of young individuals through scouting.
